Sometimes, bigger is better. This is one of our best values in big reflectors It's a a standard Newtonian design 6" reflector telescope and the larger design means sharper images and more clarity with less maintenance. For you that means an excellent mix of deep-space viewing with the awesome views you want of the Moon and Planets. Compatible with advanced eyepieces and a motorized drive, this is a great starter scope for someone who really wants to take the plunge and begin a lifetime of learning and exploration.

Details

Traditional Newtonian Design: This telescope differs from our "short tube" 6 inch reflector in that it sports a more standard optical design and a natural 750mm focal length. This means the telescope is larger -- really it's longer -- but it is also faster. With a focal ratio of f/5.0, it offers superior light gathering power to the considerably slower short tube design. This makes the scope better suited for a wide range of astronomical observing. You're more likely to get sharp views of deeper space objects like nebulae, galaxies and star clusters. Plus planets and the moon still look great. Expect to see the Rings of Saturn, the moons of Jupiter and details of Mars when observing in dark skies.

Great Value & Loaded with Accesories. This scope makes a great gift, as it is loaded with features and accessories. Included with this telescope are two 1.25 Inch diameter Plossl eyepieces with storage containers. Out of the box, you'll acheive magnifications of 30x and 75x with these two eyepieces. And you can always upgrade to much more serious eyepieces as this scope uses standard sized optical elements. You'll also receive a simple 2x Barlow lens. With the Barlow, you can achieve double up the magnification of planetary objects. Your telescope also comes with a dust-free cleaning cloth and a moon filter designed for reducing moon glare and making surface details more clear.

Star Tracking Equatorial EQ Mount & Full Sized Tripod. This telescope comes with an "equatorial" mount. Easy enough for the beginner to use, but for the intermediate to advanced star gazer, you can "polar align" the telescope to the correct latitude, which allows you to more easily track the stars as they rise and set in the night sky. You can add an optional motorized drive that will turn your telescope automatically, allowing auto-tracking of any stellar object that you find. Thanks to precision worm gears and a substantial counter weight, the telescope can be balanced so that the slightest finger touch turn of the flexi cables will move the telescope in any direction with a smooth, steady motion. The telescope features a lightweight, but fairly sturdy, full-sized aluminum tripod. This tripod is fully adjustable and allows taller people to observe the stars without having to crouch down in an uncomfortable position. A handy accessory tray on the tripod makes it easy to keep track of extra eyepieces.
